lithography

Inking up a lithostone for the printing of an edition in the 2010 Barrier Island Series

Lithography is a method to make multiple original prints
from a drawing made on a limestone block.

In March 2010, I was one of two South Carolina artists to receive the new South Carolina Arts Commission’s Artist’s Venture Initiative Grant. With the support of the grant, patronage of the 2010 Barrier Island Series Collectors’ Club and a commission from Wofford College I have set up my studio to produce original lithographic editions.

I continue to work on the creation of new work in a Barrier Island Series. Specific work produced in the series in the current year is available at discounted rates by joining the Collectors’ Club. Lithographic edition commissions are accepted.

This project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission
which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Lithographic Collectors’ Club for 2011

Collectors' Club Enrollment Form

The 2011 Collectors’ Club provides support for the continued development of a series of lithographs devoted to capturing the pristine beauty of the lush maritime forest ecosystems located on South Carolina’s barrier islands

In 2011 three new Barrier Island images, (each image a different size), will be made into lithographs to add to the Series and offered to members of the 2011 Collectors’ Club. The prints are available on a first come first serve basis. Images will be printed in editions of 25. Twenty prints from each edition will be available to club members.

The benefits of being a member of
The Jim Creal Barrier Island Series Lithographic Collectors’ Club for 2011
are as follows:

  • Members will receive an original lithograph of a barrier island scene made in 2011 for a cost that is significantly below market retail value. To be a member of the club one must prepay for at least one lithograph made in 2011. The print from the series is chosen by the collector at enrollment, (see Club Enrollment Form)

  • Satisfaction Guaranteed. If a collector is not pleased with the print they choose they may apply their committed funds to their choice of another available print.

  • Members will receive a quarterly newsletter in which a printmaking topic will be discussed in detail.

  • Members will receive an invitation to a studio presentation or demonstration.
